I was supposed to start this two weeks ago but, you know, life! Let's just say I'm ready for spring to come to Chicago...kids + winter = constant state of sickness.
I thought it would be fun to do a little giveaway relating to this new Fabric Friday idea. I'll be posting a set of 4 new fabrics each Friday through April 1. Here's how to enter:
Each week I'll ask you guys to leave a comment letting me know which of the four fabrics featured (say that three times fast!) that day is your favorite.
If you leave a comment every Friday you'll be entered to win a clutch in the fabric of your choice.
I'll announce the winner Monday, April 4. Hope you guys enjoy the selection and look forward to hearing what you like the best.
Today's showcase are the dainty florals below. Can't wait to hear your thoughts!
in honor of mother's day this weekend I thought I would share some of the things that I love and would always enjoy receiving as a gift. (file away for future reference, Joey...)
1 : geometric genevieve. this has been one of my best sellers since opening up shop- simple, classic design makes it easy to pair with anything. slips easily into your larger bag to hold small essentials so they don't get lost (if you're like me you can't find anything when you need it, especially keys, phone and sunglasses)
2 : marc jacobs daisy. I don't wear fragrances very often but Daisy has been my go to for the past two years. light, slighty fruity, fresh- it is perfect!!
3 : stamped name necklace. you guys! this is the perfect necklace. my friend amy bought one as a bridal shower hostess gift and I fell in love as soon as I saw it in the box. obviously I went home and immediately told Joey that I had found my mothers day gift (mine is stamped with beckett). it arrived last week and I haven't taken it off. michelle at the silver wren does amazing work. I've found my new go to for gifts!
4 : anthropologie gift card. honestly, I like just wandering the store and seeing the installations in the window and creative displays. I don't have a problem finding fun things to buy either which is why having a gift card handy is always a plus.
5 : lululemon gift card. I live in work out clothes so sometimes I like to splurge (especially when I get a gift card) and it makes me feel like I'm getting a little dressed up for the day. that counts, right?
6 : pottery barn gift card. gifts cards are a theme, huh? I'm so indecisive I'm hard to buy for, so these are perfect! I get to visit stores and wander aimlessly until something catches my attention. fun for those lazy saturdays where I have hours to fill (which is never). ha!
7 : maui jim sunglasses. I love a good pair of aviators and these are the lightest weight sunglasses I've ever worn. plus they don't hurt behind my ears. score!!
hope all you mama's out there have a wonderful day this weekend.
xx
so fridays are dedicated to real weddings and/or tutorials or some sort. I didn't have a new submission for weddings this week (SEND SOME IN, LADIES!!!) and I didn't finish my tutorial, so thought I'd share a bit from my own wedding. the photo that started this whole business (above) was taken that day and it was the best day of my life outside of the day beckett joined our family. hope you enjoy!
my dad found all the wood and handmade the signs that were placed throughout the grounds.
I loved my bouquet. my florist rocked.
they didn't realize their hands and feet would become almost famous. :)
we incorporated a wine/letter ritual during the ceremony. changing it up a bit from traditional wine ceremonies (that I researched ad nauseum), we each placed a letter in and then as our parents came up the aisle, they placed one in as well. I hope we make it to our 25th anniversary before opening the box. the wine may be spoiled by then, but the letters; they're priceless.
if you were wondering about my choice of shoes : I went with rainbows. it was a good decision.
our friend kevin's signature wedding move. he goes backwards too!
our wedding was a lot of fun. hence all the dancing photos (and I'm not even a dancer!!!)
matt & reagan were awesome enough to follow us over to FSU (where I went to college) after the reception ended and take a photo of us all in front of westcott fountain. it's one of my favorites from the day and I have it blown up on a canvas in our house. makes me smile every time I walk by. :)
and one last thing just for fun. if you're on the fence about getting a photobooth/smilebooth. DO IT! :)
new year, new blogging goals. actively setting aside a little time each week to work on new posts that feature my absolute favorites : the lovely brides I have the honor of working with on their wedding day. hooray!
anna was the first bride I've worked with in germany (awesome) and was such a pleasure: kind & patient even when her bag got lost in the mail somewhere in europe. thankfully there was enough time to whip up another and ship it out before the big day. funny story- the original bag found its way back to me 2 months later. :)
she was sweet enough to share a few photos and they are amazing. her dress? his suit? the setting??? it looks like such a fun, family filled day. so glad I can pass along some of the prettiness to you all.
to the new and improved blog layout! many thanks to angie over at angie makes who helped update my look. now I just have to get my act together and actually BLOG. I've had a few brides who were sweet enough to send in photos from their weddings and have been so patient with my hiatus from blogging. to them I say- they're coming!!!
even though it takes me longer to pack the car for trips up to my hometown than it does to actually drive there (it's a 4 hour drive) it is so completely worth the effort. I arrive and nanny & papa get a weekend of baby love while I get at least two days of 8 consecutive hours of work (minus feeding breaks for little man and eating breaks for me)
as you can see from the photos, mama is happy with the amount of work completed and baby is happy because he's the center of attention all day long.
hope you all had a relaxing and fun filled weekend! xoxo
love, love, love the pantone color of 2012. in its honor, I bought some fabric I'd been eyeing for a while and will be offering clutches made out of it for $40 until it's gone. come and get it while it lasts!!
fun little numbers I'm adding to the shop. 10" wide, 5.5" tall. use on its own as a fun accessory or slide into a larger bag to keep yourself organized. (I've been using it to hold little man's diapers this past week) works like a charm! :)
as most of you know, I'm a sucker for seersucker (haha) and was so excited when Heather, one of the brides I worked with, sent me over a couple of photos from her wedding day. LOVE the blue and white seersucker paired with the yellow dresses. thank you so much for sharing, Heather! you look beautiful and so do your 'maids!
so I've been testing out a smaller size clutch (6 inches) with a couple clients who have asked for bags that could work for a junior bridesmaid/flower girl gift. I've decided to add them to the shop since they've gotten such a great response.
I'll be carrying them in both the antique brass and silver, and they come with chains (which are removable), which will make it easier for the younger ladies to carry. question for anyone who actually reads this- would you like the option of having a chain on the regular size bag? I know when I carry a clutch I don't expect it to have a chain, but it might be nice to have your hands free to hold a glass or two of wine, right? (I've been craving alcohol lately- knowing that I'm reaching the end of my 10 months of pregnancy has me itching for an ice cold glass of savignon blanc. or a beer. or whiskey- I'm not going to be too particular. :)
